Competitive cycling and particularly Criterium races are dangerous. YOU MAY DIE or BE MAIMED even if you have decades of experience. DO NOT race unless you have experience riding in groups at high speeds. We love our people and our athletes. We want you to be safe. We want you to be covered. In light of this, we are proud to announce our membership in American Bicycle Racing. Our membership will enable us to protect the athletes with additional insurance coverage in the event of an injury. A portion of our entry fees are put towards the cost of this insurance. You will need to fill out and sign our WAIVER agreement in order to race or otherwise be on the course. As a member of American Bicycle Racing we are dedicating a portion of your registration fees towards secondary insurance coverage provided by ABR. This means that your primary insurance will first cover costs and once exhausted ABR secondary insurance kicks in.

How do i get in on this ?
registration opens June 1st
Hello, I’m interested in participating in this event. Can anyone enter qualis?
yes. we will have qualifiers and filter the field to about 50-75
if i am 14 would i have to get a waiver signed?
All racers will have to sign waivers, if you are under 14 then you will need your parents to sign.
where can we sign up for this race ?
registration begins on June 1st. stay tuned to this site.
Are bikes with gears allowed?
yes. we have 4 separate categories. mens womens track or road
Is there teams?
yes. we encourage you to put together a team and enter as a team.
While I’m guessing everyone is welcome to race. At what level to serious riders train for this race, and related races? I’ve down a state tour a couple years back but have since been not as fit. It would be nice to know so I’m not throwing myself to the lions, and know how hard I have to go.
Also, can a single racer compete in both the fixed and freewheel category?
We are having Qualifiers to reduce the field by up to 50% per category.
Yes to entering both categories in fact we have been noticing that a diabolical strategy is emerging….
Note that athletes can buy tix to compete in BOTH the road and track divisions (upon qualifying.) Since your HIGHEST score counts towards your points in the series, by racing in both categories you can also potentially “steal” away points from the other division.
In other words, if a competitor places 1st in track and 3rd in road, that person will gain points for first place towards the Unified Title, and no one will get the 3rd place road points.
Muhahah. Ha.
Are you tired of answering these repetitive questions? lol… RoadBlocktheRoad!!!
nope. I dont mind at all. I appreciate them because it means we need to clarify things more.
Yo roadblock
I’m 17 years old do I still need a parent waiver signed
Because last race I brought my waiver to the reg. Party
And my name wasn’t on list to get in.
Yes your Parent will need to sign. Bring them with you.
we bring them to sign the waiver when we register?
Bring one of them at least… Let me double check with legal to see if it is required to bring a parent.
How many laps will the final be?
20 laps
Hey Roadblock. I had a quick question, I am planning on doing both categories and wanted to know if our bikes will be safe in the athlete zone while we are out on the course for our given qualify round, (i.e., road or track). I know it would be difficult to monitor all the participants and hoards of bikes in the athlete zone.
Good question. We will have marshals all along the course and the City Grounds Athlete Zone will be restricted access, but we unfortunately cant guarantee security for your bike. I would suggest having a buddy who can keep an eye on your stuff or checking the bike in to LACBC bike valet.
Where and what do I need to do to sign up
sign up will open tomorrow at 10am SHARP! Check back here after 10AM.
We gotta pay right? Also, if.we.make a team then we all gotta be under the same category? No mix bikers, like one of them is road and the rest are fix
Yes you have to pay. The money goes to insurance and prize money split. There is NO mixing of bike categories.
Yes
What if we dont have too many friends in the cycling community and cant form a team can we lonewolf it?
of course. just put lonewolf in the team category…. you will have friends in the bike community at the end of this race!
Are tubes and tools provided or do we bring our own and if we do where do we leave our stuff
The City Grounds Athlete Zone will accommodate your needs and provide a place for your stuff.
Hey, I’m thinking about signing up, but I don’t feel comfortable riding brakeless fixed. I have a single speed that I would use for the freewheel category. This would be my first Crit race and sounds fun, but riding ability aside, would I have a large disadvantage compared to everyone riding geared bikes?
gears will bring a definitive advantage over a single speed. Its really not the kind of race you want to do without the proper equipment. I would recommend getting a geared bike and to practice riding with groups.
I signed up with a team, but my team bailed, so I don’t know what to do cause I still want to participate in the race but i’m registered with a team not athlete zone what should I do?
I’m certain I received an email notifying me that there was a glitch in the system and the names for the two entries I put in were not received, but for the life of me I can’t find the email. Actually when I signed up there wasn’t even a tab for names, other than team name and location. At any rate, I signed up myself and teammate Cesar Alvarez. Our team was originally called “Tres Leches”, then we added a fourth member and changed our name to “Spokesmen of the Apocalypse”. I hope there’s no confusion.
how many riders do you have for the road race thus far?
Weres an addresses i could drive to im coming from oc
So i can like park n stuff ?
Is there a designated area for spectators? Are you guys still looking for volunteers? If I wanted to watch is there a place where I can park my car or should I just ride to the race?
ALWAYS ride to the race.
Thanks to alot of participants in the Wolfpack Race today for ruining CicLaVia. If you plan on riding through CicLaVia, do so safely, not at full speed. I know most riders did not do this, but quite a few did, and some cause crashes. I saw one rider clip a child as he was cutting in front of him at full sprint.
Don and others who put this on, need to realize that a few riders have ruined CicLaVia for many people. Please be more conscious of the date and location next time you guys set up a race.
huh? our race was a mile and a half away from CicLAvia on a closed course and began at 10am. None of our racers were anywhere near CicLAvia. Every CicLAvia I’ve ever been to (all of them) has had douchebags who ride fast through the crowd but that has nothing to do with our event. Im as frustrated as you with that and in fact holding our race the same day you’d think gives the speed demons something to do. Don’t blame us, blame inconsiderate douchebags who dont get that riding in a crowd means slowing the eff down.

Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things
out pretty quick. I’m thinking about creating
my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Appreciate it
